Day 1

Luke 1:1-4
Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us, just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first were eyewitnesses and servants of the word. Therefore, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, it seemed good also to me to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught.
NIV

Pray for God to show you something to use from the passage

My Notes

Many how many people wrote Jesus story. Many more than what we have, how many accounts did Luke follow as he wrote the story? Who were the eyewitnesses he talked to?

among us these writers of jesus story still around they were eyewitnesses

handed down see 1 john 1:3 Written to be passed on

servants of the word these eyewitnesses became servants of the word. it changed them If not true then they would not have become servants

carefully investigated Luke makes emphasis that his story is reliable and follows the events of Jesus' life

Theophilus we do not know much about him. May have been an official in the Roman government

certainty Why Luke go to the trouble? so we could know the truth for our faith to be sure

  1. How can some say that the Bible, God's Holy Word, is fiction. This is one of many evidences that His word is accurate.
